‘Cauld blaws the wind frae east to west,
The drift is driving sairly;
Sae loud and shrill’s I hear the blast,
I’m sure it’s winter fairly.
Up in the morning’s no for me,
Up in the morning early;
When a’ the hills are cover’d wi’ snaw,
I’m sure its winter fairly.
The birds sit chittering in the thorn,
A’ day they fare but sparely;
And lang’s the night frae e’en to morn,
I’m sure it’s winter fairly.
Up in the morning’s no for me,
Up in the morning early;
When a’ the hills are cover’d wi’ snaw,
I’m sure its winter fairly.’
Rabbie Burns.
A short one from me this evening; Burns describes the beauty of nature in Winter that we witnessed on our walk one glorious frosty morning better than I ever could! I love any excuse to dress in keeping with a theme, and seeing as though it was Burns Night this week I’ve been wearing plenty of tartan. This tartan wool midi dress was a recent Laura Ashley vintage find from seller… Judy’s Vintage Fair. The beautiful raspberry red and bottle green shades of the weave caught my eye at first, but it was the matching contrast collar and cuffs sold it to me completely. It’s such a classic cut and print that will never go out of style and went perfectly with my vintage burgundy coat, all wrapped up for a Wintery January walk.
What are you wearing just now?

Gorgeous! Love the contrasting Peter Pan collar on your dress and also your fur collar coat.
Thank you very much, Ian! It’s a favourite dress of mine.
