High street floral maestro Laura Ashley has teamed up with hip Japanese brand Uniqlo for one of the prettiest collaborations I’ve seen in some time. Mainting Uniqlo’s collaborative tradition, Laura Ashley follows in the footsteps of Jil Sander and Charlotte Ronson with a limited edition collection to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Uniqlo’s popular UT collection.
The collaboration showpieces patterns from Laura Ashley’s extensive archive printed onto Uniqlo’s high quality cotton basics: T-shirts, tunics and stoles. I love this idea of mixing vintage prints with modern, well-cut basics to give a directional twist to retro prints. My love for Laura Ashley has been well-documented and having been partial to their peter pan collars and ditsy prints from a young age, this is a collaboration I was very excited to hear about. It was difficult to choose between the fun floral prints (I’d like all of them please) but eventually I narrowed it down to the two prints in the middle in the first row of the picture below; no doubt I’ll incorporate them into an outfit post when they arrive!
The designs are stylish but easy-to-wear and will add a breath of fresh air to my soon-to-be transitional wardrobe. Spring is just around the corner and what better way to get in the mood for next season’s love of all things feminine? A versatile piece, I think these T-shirts would look great paired with some cropped pastel-hued jeans, or worn with a feminine floaty maxi skirt on breezy Summer days (and nights).
The first drop of the collection launched today (6th of February) and some sizes are already selling out, so if you want to get your hands on one then make haste to the Uniqlo website. The rest of the collection will be available from the 20th of February exclusively in Uniqlo stores and online. Prices start from £8.90 and Laura Ashley and Uniqlo will make a donation from the net sales of the collection to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the UN agency that protects and supports refugees worldwide.
