It wouldn’t be my favourite season without a trip to the pumpkin patch! Visiting Kilduff Farm has been an Autumn tradition of ours since it opened three years ago; we loved taking pictures behind the scenes last year and so this year I asked Lucy and family if we could head to the patch to take some snaps to share with you all again before it opens this weekend.
Lucy shares my passion for provenance and pumpkins, and visiting Kilduff’s pumpkin festival is such a great way to learn about rural life and how food is really grown. The patch is looking as beautiful as ever against the backdrop of rural East Lothian and opens its doors to the public on Saturday. This year sees the return of food stalls with local producers including Field Fire Fork and North Berwick favourite Drift. As well as the hay bale maze, pumpkin house (like something out of a fairy tale) and lots of lovely photo opportunities, there will also be an Autumn shop with products made by the family (including Kilduff’s own honey) and local businesses. Such a fantastic Autumn day out.
Watch this space for a few more recipes for using those beautiful pumpkins! If you’re local, I thoroughly recommend a trip – although I worked with Kilduff last year and this year they kindly gifted me some pumpkins, I’m under no obligation to share and visiting was already a beloved tradition in our household.
