The Pumpkin Patch, Edinburgh and #myodetoautumn Hashtag Challenge

The end of October. Suddenly the clocks go back and we’re plunged into darkness. We’ve reached peak pumpkin and Halloween is finally here, while Bonfire Night follows at the end of the week: we’re truly into the depths of Autumn now. And does it get more Autumnal than a pumpkin patch? I used to think such places only existed across the pond, so when I heard there was a pumpkin patch just a hop, skip and jump from Edinburgh, overlooking the Firth of Forth to the homeland beyond, I made it our mission to explore Craigie’s Farm during half-term. And it certainly didn’t disappoint! I thought these shots were particularly apt for Halloween, so couldn’t resist sharing them today.

Every year it feels like November slips into December at an ever-alarming rate; suddenly Autumn is over and it’s time to hibernate. I love Winter too, but this year I’m determined to savour every last fallen leaf and shiny conker. I’ve so loved the pictures you have been sharing on Instagram for my hashtag project #myodetoautumn – celebrating the things you love about the season – so thought it would be fun to have an A-Z challenge for the next few weeks. As a visual person I love sharing and discovering photos on Instagram though as the light fades I sometimes lose my creative impetus, so thought a wee share-along would be a good challenge for the month. And I want you to join in!

We’ll start with A today – All Hallow’s Eve – and we’ll finish up on the 25th November with Zzzz for hibernate! I’ll post what the week’s letters stand for each Monday, and I’d love to share some of my favourite images from the gallery on Instagram here (with full credit of course). Remember to tag your Autumn shots with #myodetoautumn and without further ado, the letters for this week…

A – All Hallow’s Eve (Halloween had to feature somewhere…)

B – Baking (Autumn-themed of course!)

C – Crafting (is there anything better than cosying up with a new craft project at this time of year?)

D – Doors of Autumn (I do love a door shot, and the colours and adornments can be particularly pretty at this time of year!)

E – Early Evening (because as Morningside Grannies would say, ‘the nights are fair drawin’ in!’ and dusk this time of year is so beautiful.)

F – Fireworks (to seamlessly coincide with November 5th!).

As I said, I’ll reveal the next six letters next Monday. In the meantime, if you have any ideas for what they could stand for, then do let me know in the comments or on Instagram! I’m struggling for I, V and X currently… Best get my Autumn thinking cap on! This will all hopefully coincide with a shiny new blog redesign – watch this space, and make sure you’ve bookmarked Everything Looks Rosie.
