Hooray, the sun is shining! I know it’s terribly British to talk about the weather but when you’ve had a seemingly endless Winter like we have, even a little sunshine makes all the difference. On one of the first sunny days of the year, we hopped on a bus to Duddingston Village and visited our favourite secret garden. We had the place almost completely to ourselves and it was so unbelievably peaceful listening to the loch lapping at the shore and birds chirping among the blossom. It seemed a good day to take some new Boden gladrags for a spin and showcase my new Spring uniform with Breton stripes – I have been practically living in this look since the sun first made an appearance.
I’ve always loved a Boden Breton – as this post attests – as they are made from super soft jersey with the perfect boat neck cut and flattering length. The statement Breton is an update on the classic – I went for the perfectly springlike ’embroidered meadow’ version as I just loved the colours. Oh to have a Breton in every colour! I paired it with my new go-to trew: paper bag trousers. They are made from the loveliest drapey fabric, skimming your legs with a tapered cut and nipping in at the waist with tie detail. We’re at the strange weather stage where it’s too warm for a coat but too cool to go without, but the Tori cotton cardigan fits the bill. It’s a chunky knit coatigan style cover-up and the vivid watermelon hue almost fluorescent. The boxy, edge to edge cut and welt pockets give it a Chanel-esque feel, making it perfect for dressing up more casual outfits in throw-on-and-go style. Please stay sunshine!
