Last week I shared my day-to-day Summer uniform, and spoke on Instagram about being a naturally Autumn girl; so, so many of you shared my sentiments so this week I thought I’d share what I’m wearing for dressier seasonal occasions, an even trickier sartorial endeavour! Enter this green Broderie Anglaise dress from the inimitable M&S.
I’ve spoken before about my love of Broderie Anglaise in Summer, particularly in soft vintage cottons and crisp whites. This dress renders the classic fabric in a vivid turquoise hue and ultra-light finish. The deep V-neck, nipped-in waist (that skims not clings) and midi length make the dress flattering for an hourglass figure. Wee details like the fluttery sleeves, scalloped neckline and hem make it dressy rather than everyday, while still keeping you comfy and covered-up. Summer dressing’s main objective in my opinion! The dress does all the work, needing minimal styling – metallic sandals, light bag and sunglasses are all you need. The quality is second-to-none too; the dress is one of the few purchases I’ve made in the last few months – originally to wear for a wedding reception – but I know I’ll be wearing it for so many Summers to come.
What are you wearing for Summer’s dressier occasions?
What I’m wearing: M&S dress, Clarks sandals, vintage bag and accessories.
