This week I was delighted to collaborate with Laura Ashley again. My love for the iconic British brand has been well documented on Everything Looks Rosie – whether thrifting their timeless vintage dresses or coveting their contemporary accessories! Laura Ashley invited me to style a bag from their spring/ summer collection for their blog – you can see the results here. I love how Sarah and Sarah styled their choices and would happily add all three to my bag-drobe! I thought I would post a few more pictures from the shoot for you to see here too.
Ever since I first saw Mary Poppins, I have coveted that iconic, magically bottomless tapestry bag. I’m known to carry around most of my life in my handbag (Post-It note? Banana? Just ask!) as for me, practicality is a priority.
But that doesn’t mean you have to compromise on style: Laura Ashley’s gorgeous red push lock bowling bag demonstrates just that, combining sleek design and functionality. Laura Ashley is spoiling us with its brand new range for spring/ summer, but it was this bold, pillarbox red hue that particularly caught my eye. It complements so many of my day-to-day outfits, adding a playful pop of colour – while its structured design gives a polished edge to any look.
It fits all my necessities and more, particularly important in Scotland in spring/summer where it’s just as likely you’ll need your umbrella as your sunglasses. With plenty of pockets inside you won’t lose smaller items either, a big bag bugbear of mine! It’s even big enough to fit my DSLR camera, which is a massive plus in my book – stylish camera bags are particularly tricky to come by!
The 50s-inspired bowling bag fits perfectly with the retro influences that inform my style, but the gold hardware and detailing keep things contemporary. Here I’ve paired it with a vintage polka dot dress, staple trans-seasonal trench coat and vintage Ferragamo Varas (which I recently, very generously, inherited).
I couldn’t resist combining the red bag with a bit of white and blue (echoed in my lovely scarf) for such an iconic British brand as Laura Ashley.
What’s your handbag style? Are you coveting anything from Laura Ashley?
Bag and scarf, c/o Laura Ashley; vintage dress (from London fave Blondie Vintage); vintage Ferragamos; M&S trench; Clinique Red-y to Wear lipstick.
