A few weeks ago, the folks at Cath Kidston invited me along to the student night in their Edinburgh store to peruse the autumn/winter offerings. My life is very un-studenty at the moment as I juggle the vocational and academic elements of a very full-on course, but at times like these I know I’ll definitely miss that student card next year – especially as Cath had laid on a 25% discount! I was greeted by the lovely team from the Edinburgh shop and left to my own devices to snap away, so thought I would share my Cath Kidston AW14 wishlist with you.

The ubiquitous feminine prints were present in abundance, but as I’ve said before, it’s Cath Kidston’s modern twist on girly and retro-inspired pieces that make them one of my much-loved brands. This season two of the key prints – polka dots and stars – have been updated with flashes of neon against a neutral navy background. Those fluorescent scarves would certainly brighten dark days!

When I think of Cath Kidston, knitwear doesn’t immediately spring to mind but their autumn/winter woollens impressed, from lurex knits to embroidered-collar jumpers. I loved the autumnal colour palette, which tied in with the seasonal patterns such as the playful clock print adorning dresses and skirts. My favourite was the vintage-style yarn cardigan in a gorgeous emerald. Accessories carried through the seasonal patterns and colours, and I had my eye on the new leather detail totes – the Mary Poppins-esque large version would definitely suit me!

The fashion world has gone dog crazy and Cath’s pooch Stanley featured on everything from hot water bottles to brooches – perfect for canine lovers! I also had my eye on some baking bits, but with seriously overflowing cupboards I managed to restrain myself (I’m particularly attached to my Cath K mugs that must hold about a pint of tea – just the right quantity if you ask me).

I’m itching to get my hands on some Cath Kidston fabric for my next sewing project, maybe a floral skirt or a summery dress – what do you think? Cath also has some gorgeous Christmas bits and bobs in store; I was loving the retro baubles, and how gorgeous are the wee knitted snowmen? I might be biased, but the Edinburgh store is my favourite of Cath’s – small but perfectly formed!

  1. Totally agree about the mugs! It’s the only thing that gets me through to lunchtime on a Monday morning!

I love their stores – really tempted by that embroidered collar jumper.
