Is it just me, or has there been the smallest hint of Spring in the air this week?! I daren’t jinx it – and the weather forecast isn’t looking too promising from next week onwards – but what I’m really relishing are the gradually lengthening days and the warmth of sunshine on my face and brightening my wee flat. Though I won’t pack the woollens away just yet, I’m fully embracing trans-seasonal dressing – which in Scotland can mean dressing for all seasons at once!
I might have been a wee bit ahead of the game donning the Boden Jordana dress on a jaunt to East Lothian a couple of weeks ago – as it is technically from their holiday collection – but hear me out! The tiered, ‘seventies style midi is made from the most lusciously soft and forgiving jersey fabric that feels so perfect for just now: a bridge between cosy Winter pieces and carefree Spring ones. The three-quarter sleeves – complete with obligatory ruffles – and deep V-neck make it incredibly flattering too. Its go-with-everything navy shade means its a blank canvas for so many different looks: paired with coat, bright boots and tights now or bare legs, sandals and a denim jacket in the warmer months.
I couldn’t have planned a better outfit to coincidentally tone in with these colourful beach huts at North Berwick Harbour on our day trip. Talk about an Instagrammer’s dream! Coffee and bagels at Steampunk Coffee with its wood-burning stove, a wander by the harbour, vintage book shopping (I came home with a stellar haul) and delicious cardamom cake at Bostock Bakery – it was the best day out I’ve had out in a long time. Check out my Instagram Story highlights for more snaps from the day. Roll on Spring…
