Long time, no blog! Sorry I’ve been absent for a while, but second semester just started and what with my job, uni work (reading Vanity Fair for one module, it’s 750 pages long and a T. S. Eliot presentation next week), job interview, The Tribe, FABsoc and all the great things I am now privileged to write for I have had little time to stop. Exhausted already, but buzzing from the intensity of it all (in a good way).
I’ll try and write a few London Fashion Week pieces over the next few days, once my head’s stopped spinning from trying to keep up with all the shows! I love that LFW just gets bigger and bigger; there’s something really exciting and unpredictable about the experimentation and quirkiness of the shows at LFW that makes it different from the other more polished and preened fashion weeks. More on this later.
Here’s what I was wearing today to direct and take photos for a shoot for The Tribe, appearing in What? Magazine in March. Listen out for more news on that one on my twitter soon.
I’ve worn this sheer shirt non-stop since I got it, it’s fast becoming my fail safe daywear staple. I’ve mainly been wearing it with my leather shorts for a feminine/ tough contrast. The shirt is the key piece of the season and with so many varied shapes and hues it’s also the most versatile. Mannish or ladylike, statement or sophisticated, crisp or sheer; the possibilities are multifarious. Easily dressed up or down too, the shirt is a wardrobe hard worker worth its hype. Its fashion value looks far from waning; particularly as the androgynous trend looks set to continue next season.
Today I thought I’d try something different but simple; combining the shirt with my black maxi dress for a more overtly ladylike look. I kept the shirt done up and added gold charm necklaces and my vintage-esque mint green headscarf to emphasise the elegant vibe. Fashion seems to be embracing a more modest, “covered up” aesthetic and this outfit nods to the look. The black fur jacket nips in the waist and keeps everything in proportion; although I love maxi dresses, there’s always the risk of them drowning and decreasing my already petite-frame.

Lastly, I got an Internship in London for Summer- very excited about this one and I’ll share the details with you soon. I’m a very lucky girl!
